Child Integrated reduces the unnecessary separation

Future General Nepal played a key role in rescuing 18 children from a poorly run illegal orphanage in early 2024. The orphanage was not only operating illegally but also neglecting the well-being of the children under its care. Upon learning about the situation, FGN assisted the Nepali government to initiate a rescue mission. Working closely with local authorities, FGN’s team ensured the safe removal of all 18 children from the orphanage. What made this case particularly troubling was that 16 of the 18 children had at least one living parent, highlighting the unnecessary separation of families that could have been prevented.

After the rescue, FGN’s work did not stop there. FGN undertook the crucial task of tracing the families of each child. This process involved not only locating the parents or guardians but also conducting thorough assessments to ensure the safe reintegration of children to their community. In cases where families needed support, FGN provided necessary resources and counseling to help them welcome their children back into a secure environment.

In April 2024, all 18 rescued children have now been successfully reintegrated with their families. Since returning home, these children are thriving in their communities, with many enrolled in local schools and adjusting well to their family life. The reintegration process has been a testament to the power of family reunification and the positive impact it has on a child’s emotional and psychological well-being.

This rescue and reintegration effort also underscores a broader issue in Nepal, where many children in orphanages are not actually orphans but victims of trafficking or poverty-related separation. FGN continues to work with government bodies and local organizations to address these challenges, aiming to reduce the unnecessary separation of children from their families and prevent future exploitation.
